Repayment Benefits:

    checking or savings account.*
  • 2% interest rate reduction after 36 months of on-time payments.*
  • Last $500 of your account balance will be forgiven with qualified on-time payments during the life of the loan.*

Types of Loans:

  • Subsidized Stafford Loans – Loans are based on financial need. You will not be charged any interest before you begin repayment or during deferment. The federal government subsidizes the interest during these periods. Repayment is deferred until six months after student is no longer enrolled or drops below half time status.
  • Unsubsidized Stafford Loans – Loans are not awarded on the basis of need. You will be charged interest from the time the loan is disbursed until it is paid in full. Repayment is deferred until six months after student is no longer enrolled or drops below half time status.
  • PLUS (Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students) – Loans are made to parents, with approved credit. Parents may borrow the cost of education less other financial aid. Federal PLUS loans go into repayment within 60 days after full disbursement.

Application Process:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can obtain the FAFSA from any college financial aid office, a high school counselor’s office, or off the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Contact the financial aid office at the school you plan to attend to get a financial aid packet.
  • Complete all the forms and return them according to the instructions.
  • You will receive an award letter telling you what type of financial aid you have been awarded.
  • In some cases, you will receive a Stafford and/or Parent Loan (PLUS or Graduate PLUS) application. If not, obtain the desired application form from the college. (This procedure depends on the college you choose, so check with the Financial Aid Office.)
  • Be sure to list our lender code #828678 on your application.
